You could be the advisor selected to go on an international trip to a study abroad site. Or be one of three advisors chosen to attend the 2019 UC Education Abroad Conference in Santa Barbara.

Recipients will be announced during the UCAAC breakfast on May 1, 2019. Don’t miss out­—it could be you!

International Site Visit

One advisor will be selected at random for a 2019-20 international trip to a study abroad site. Previous participants have:

  • Talked to UC students studying abroad.
  • Observed classes.
  • Toured campuses, including student housing.
  • Met international university staff.
  • Learned about onsite student support.

In previous years, advisors have visited Sweden, Mexico, or Brazil. Locations will be announced during summer 2019. UCEAP will cover your airfare and lodging for the site visit.

UCEAP Conference

Three advisors will be selected to attend the UCEAP Conference on June 19-21, 2019, in Santa Barbara. You'll learn about UCEAP's extensive program offerings and meet systemwide staff and alumni during the conference. UCEAP will cover your ground transportation, meals at the conference, and lodging for the UCEAP conference.

Selection and Eligibility

Recipients will be chosen at random and will be announced at the UCAAC breakfast on May 1, 2019. You must be present to be selected.

International Site Visit

Eligibility

You must:

  • Be an undergraduate academic advisor at a UC campus at the time of the selection and throughout the site visit.
  • Have your supervisor's approval to participate.
  • Be responsible for the cost for local transportation, meals, and incidentals or have your campus department do so. UCEAP will cover your airfare and lodging for the site visit.
  • Have a valid passport and any necessary visa before you depart. Your passport must be valid for six months beyond the end date of the site visit.
  • Participate in a site visit chosen by the UCEAP for the 2019-20 academic year.
  • Take part in site visit activities, such as campus tours, staff introductions, and class observations.

Award Terms

  • UCEAP will let you know the site visit program, location, and travel dates as soon as they are available.
  • You'll coordinate the selection of the site visit program and location with UCEAP for the best possible match to your discipline.
  • If, by January 10, 2020, you are unable or ineligible to participate based on the criteria listed above, you will lose the opportunity to go on a site visit.
  • Within a month of your return, you'll create a reflection essay with photos and/or video for UCEAP's use.
  • You'll advocate for UCEAP in your department and at your campus once you return.

UCEAP Conference

You must:

  • Be an undergraduate academic advisor at a UC campus at the time of the selection and during the UC Education Abroad Program Conference on June 19-21, 2019.
  • Have your supervisor's approval to participate.
  • Be responsible for the cost for local transportation, incidentals, and meals not provided at the conference or have your campus department do so. UCEAP will cover your ground transportation and lodging for the UCEAP Conference.
  • Attend the UCEAP Conference in Santa Barbara on June 19-21, 2019.

Award Terms

  • You'll coordinate your travel and lodging arrangements with UCEAP.
  • You'll advocate for UCEAP in your department and at your campus once you return.
